Simply Soul has been recently formed by Phil and Andy from Phoenix City Smash. Over a quiet drink they decided that the best music to perform was soul that was the start of the formation of the new band.
Phil advertised for other musicians , they already had Keith the drummer who was a member of Sweet Chariot with Andy and was keen on playing soul.
Through different contacts they coaxed Rod (trumpet) and Ray (tenor sax) to join after they had finished working with Souled as Seen.
Dereck (trombone who was in the original Stax of Soul also joined. Dave (guitar) also joined the lineup - a friend of a friend of Phils and last but not least Tony (vocals) who was the original singer with St Loius Union.
