The In-Sect
Chorlton

Line-up included

Allan Jones lead guitar/vocals
Roger Livesey bass
Ray Gibson drums
?? rhythm
David (Sam) Bartram vocals

The group started life as THE FREEWAYS , 4 lads from the Chorlton cum Hardy area.

We practised furiously and did a couple of gigs.  The first one being November 1964 in the Chorlton British Legion.  With the group names such as Beatles, Animals and Byrds
we decided to become THE IN-SECT.

The rhythm guitarist left and was replaced by a lead singer with a fantastic soul voice (forgive failing memory but cannot remember his name!).  We rehearsed in my mum’s front room every Thursday night and collected quite a  following of neighbours listening.

We  played lots of gigs in the Manchester area, eg Cheadle Cricket Club and the Majestic Club in Deansgate where we played evenings and all nighters.
