The following publicity sheet explains how a writer, an exotic dancer and a bunch of versatile musicians can integrate, something akin to a circus show.

Unlike most groups it is hard to characterise THE MANCHESTER ROAD precisely. Their greatest asset is their versatility. They don't get into the same mind blowing and ear splitting groove all night.

From Bruce and Juliet we have the poetry and dance subtley integrated by the backing group into a musical matrix and from Bruce alone we have his by now famous Lancashire Tales.

Playing by themselves the group present an incredible range of material ranging from jazz a la Roland Kirk, Mingus, Monk] through blues, Chicken Shack, Fleetwood Mac and John Mayall to rock, a la Cream and Led Zeppelin etc, they are also liable to shove in a load of their original numbers composed by Brian Marks and Bob Reader.

Performance wise Bruce has done his thing on BBC tv has had a whole series on Radio Leeds of which the climax was the recording of the whole show complete with the group which was broadcast in late January.

Concert wise they have done two shows in Leeds theatre, played at the Canned Heat concert and done miscellaneous gigs at UMIST, Houldsworth Hall etc. Bookings date sheet held by White agency.
