After the break up of The Chapters and the original Wynder K Frog didn't materialise, I put the Rainy City Band together.
We rehearsed in a pub in Ordsall just behind the now famous Salford Lads Club - I can't remember now the name of the pub but we practised in the upstairs function room. This pub no longer exists just like the old Ordsall.
After a couple of weeks we started gigging I picked up quite a few of the clubs I played with The Chapters and the old Stormbeats gig at the Egerton arms.
The band also played Manchester Cavern and worked the university circuit including Manchester Uni, Liverpool uni, York, Leeds and several others.
The band also worked under the name Blind Dog Blues Band, due to the fact that we sometimes got confused with the Rainy City Jazz Band.
The band played a Paul Butterfield style of blues, Chicago influenced with a strong blend of bottleneck guitar and harmonica along with some original stuff.
After around 12 months Bernie Davies had to move away and the band dissolved.
L-R Paul McDermot, Paul Murray, Bernie Davies, Steve Walsh, Kneeling Mike Lynch + Dog.
- Steve Walsh, I understand, went on to join The Casuals.
- I don't know where Paul McDermott went.
- Paul Murray worked with a number af bands until we once again teamed up in Money in 1968.
I formed another band with Ady Edelston, ex Chapters, a band using first the title the Mike Lesley Four, changing this to Seduction - put together to tour the American bases in Germany and beyond.
