Looking for....

Pete Greenhalgh

Pete used to run his own Electronics repair shop just off Oxford Rd - near the railway Bridge close to Graham and Annies A1 shop.

I believe he played bass (?) with Shane Fenton and the Fentones from time to time - last I saw him he was living somewhere between Old Trafford and Stretford - I think his wife's name was Annie.

30 years ago he sported a head of ginger hair and a tash.

I imagine he repaired quite a few amps and bits of PA kit in his time - so perhaps some of you might now how to contact him these days ? Contact me via MK.LUXY"at"GMAIL.COM if you do - I think the old bugger still owes me a beer!

Best wishes from Luxembourg,

Mike Knight
former DJ at such wonderful spots as "The North Westward Ho" "Pennine Apres Ski Lodge" "The Moon - in Duckinfield" "Tramp" "Woofers Mobile Disco" - and a rack of other places....including working with the Harbour Lights quite a few times at Bredbury Rugby Club - good days!!!

Nigel Smith

Some of this is almost too nostalgic, they were such good times. Reading through this site the memories come flooding back, I particularly remember some stunning performances by Pete MacLaine and The Clan, Johnny and The Avengers, St.Louis Union, Rocking Vickers (Vicars at the time but it didn't impress record companies!), Wynder K Frog (or Frogg?) I'm sure I remember The Nevadas supporting a few big names at Nelson Imp, possibly The Byrds?
Ian Crawford and the Boomerangs were exceptional, superb drum solos by Trevor Morais. I used to go to Twisted Wheel, not often due to lack of transport, when I moved to Bristol I used to come back to Lancashire at weekends and go to a club called Rowntrees Sound in Manchester, does anyone remember it?
Great site, cant stop reading through it, all the very best to any one of the guys in the groups mentioned who hopefully read the site, you made it a fabulous time to be a teenager in. Keep it alive.

For Simon Keegan: TVM if I remeber correctly was situated at the bottom of Chapel Street opposite the end of Bridge Street and just near to Victoria Bus Station. They made amplifiers and speaker cabinets to go with, mainly for PA, in modest quantities; did do some bespoke stuff - ask me more, it's a long story - and I think stopped trading in the late seventies (nineteen, that is). Hand built, basic, and reliable; the guys working there seemed to wear warehouse coats. Course, it's all changed now, what with those new-fangled transistors and so on!

Can anybody help with a contact for a group from Manchester in the 60's, the group were called the Fanes or Faines, If they diden't make any records, they did do a demo disc, as they were in the studio just before we went in The Majority Plus. Would like to talk to them about that day at the recording studio. Keep up the good work, and long live the Sixties but spare a thought for the musicians big or small who have sadly passed away like Colin our keyboard player, and more recently Freddie Garrety God Bless them ALL, and thank you in anticipation for your HELP. Keep smiling its contagious so pass it on, and if you see anybody without a smile give them one of yours.

I have recently acquired an MK.60/PA AUDIO AMPLIFIER, the red cover has a badge on it saying TVM sound...I am after some information, a mate of mine was clearing his house out and said i could have this metal rather dangerous looking thing,, i took it home, cleaned it out and what do you know the thing still works, I play my bass through it am just curious as to it's history and since i acn't seem to find any references to TVM sound was hopingh someone could point us in the right direction.
