I remember Napoleons - it was a favourite place for gay men long before Canal Street and the gay village ever existed its proximity to the National Bus StationĀ  made it a safe place for the young men who frequented the area. The DJ was called Tony there were 2 floors one for dancing the other for sitting around talking and having a drink.

There was a gay scene in Manchester but it was very underground because back in the late 60s early 70s it was still a criminal offence.

Napoleons did not exist for very long but it was good whilst it lasted.
