Red Lion (Atherton)

In the 1970s the pub was the favourite for the local Hells Angels. Bill Eckersley was the DJ (he also ran EF coaches in the town) and he played a range of records from heavy rock to Dobie Gray’s ‘Out on the Floor’.

Hi Derek, I was not old enough at the time to be in the HA but I was brought up with Alan Jones [younger brother of Ste Jones] all of us from Hindsford, Alan passed away 44 years ago now and I believe Ste as just passed a few weeks ago. Mick Hogan, Jess Marsh, we used to go up Rivi good friday with them, Bob Hall was there also, 70s was a great decade
