Manchesterbeat is pleased to assist those who wish to utilise our resources for research, family tributes, etc.

Please ask to use our resources, we hardly ever refuse.  Ask and we will email our images - many are reduced in quality for the web and we have higher quality originals you can use.

There are some images, etc, which were donated to the site on the basis they are not shared outside Manchesterbeat - only made available for viewing.

Just because it is on a website does not mean it is copyright free.

Manchesterbeat copyright is claimed and to enforce our copyright we have restricted the right-mouse button.  There ways around this, of course, but you are then intentionally breaking copyright.

I think if you search under  Mogambo (with an 'O' not an 'A') you will find lots of info. Also if you Google 'Mogambo' there are photos - although not necessarily of the inside. PR

I was looking for information on The Magambo Espresso Bar in Manchester, I have just picked up 3 large wire wall masks which I am told came from there, does anyone have any recollection of the masks (see attached photo below) or any photos of the interior? Thanks, Christian

I'm a member volunteer at Darwen Heritage Centre where we currently have an Exhibition on show '100 year of Darwen Music' 1880's-1980's, would it be possible for you to send me a high resolution copy of the Wynder K Frog photograph from the newspaper ? There is a big Darwen connection with this band and good images are very scarce. We are also working on a book with any profit made going to the Heritage Centre for future projects (we are a registered charity) Anything else for this band would be gratefully received.
Thanks for your help.

Regarding Kirk Daniels and the Deltas lead singer around 1960 -1962 real name: Harry Morris

I am trying to find out the background of the singer, who may be related to me.

He is listed on this site as dying in 2007, does anybody have more information on his background and if he became a hairdresser in Manchester in the 1960s?

Cheers,

Philip Morris

My brother (John Daniels) was lead guitarist with The Falkons/Derek and the Falkons back in the day.  You have two photos of the group on this website and I was wondering if you could supply high resolution copies on them - these are the only photos in existence as far as I know (unless you've got any others!!).
I'm trying to get John to write his memoirs of the group (how they got together etc.) and good copies of these photos would be great.
Thanking you in anticipation,
Ron

Hi

I am a published author of books about the UK music business during the 60’s and 70’s. I am wanting to contact Rod Buck Buckley who was in the band Art n Soul and The Wickeds (Heart and Soul on your site), and the start of the Band Barclay James Harvest.  Would you send him my email address and let him know that I’m writing a book on BJH and would like to interview him.

I really appreciate your help.

I recently saw an old Granada TV Documentary about the early 60s re-development of St. Mary's, Oldham. My wife's family was one of those re-housed when the slums came down. A group (four piece I think) was featured in several scenes and also interviews with the lead singer/guitarist. If anyone can help identify them, or the venue, I'd be grateful if they would me know. Here's the video link....  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S97Bqlj8hfA
