I'm Not Running Away / So Sweet

Memorable for the dazzling introduction disgustedly by Jeff Beck and the guitar work of “Big Jim” Sullivan.

Memories

I saw them many times at "The Flamingo Club" in Farnworth, with Eddie Earl compering. They were great. Was very sad to learn of Mike's passing a few years ago. Watched him in "The Colours" at "The Welcome" in Little Hulton just before he passed away.

Graham - 1/3/10

The big Tudor Pub pictured in the gallery was the Stocks in Walkden and Stan Wood was the landlord. The group rehearsed in the big club room and Stan's daughter Bev would listen in, being their biggest fan

There is a lot of confusion regarding the statement that Jeff Beck played the intro on 'I'm Not Running Away'. I can definitely say that it was not he. It was the session guitarist Alan Parker (later of Blue Mink). Who performed the guitar work on the track. I can say this with complete certainty as I was there at the session. and, although I'm getting on a bit, my memory is still functioning okay. Sadly, Jeff Beck is no longer with us to comment on thisWe, as a group, played no instruments on A or B side as we were deemed to be 'not up to it'. Some of the other session players were,Ronnie Verrell drums, Harry Stoneham piano, Vic Flick guitar (or Bass. Unsure), Jim Sullivan, guitar. A highly respected bunch of musicians. The only feasible explanation for Jeff Beck to have played this would be if he came to a studio at some other time and overdubbed it. I find this very unlikely.
