Studd Menswear

Studds was the best shop ever. I had an account with them in the 70s. I had never seen such top class fashion. I remember buying a leather coat from Stud and the only other person I saw in one was Lewis Collins of the Professionals.

I have some great memories of Stud - I was in there every pay day that was once a week in the 70s.

What a truly fabulous Clothes shop this was, and i am sure still is. It was better than most if not all the clothes shops in Manchester  and I know I used to buy a lot of clothes back in te day. I knew Lou the owner very well he is a truly lovely guy who knows his trade inside out. Also Jack who is the same who owned it along with Lou. I used to buy a lot of clothes from there mainly from Lou who kited out myself and my showbiz partner Melvyn Whitehead with a lot of our early stage clobber when we were professional as a well known duo called STRANGE BREW, including fabulous waistcoats beautiful stage shirts and trousers. I then went on to buy beautiful Van Gill Suites and stunning shirts shoes in fact everything down to cuff links from him when I had a change of career into the high end of the prestige car market. As fate would have it I later in life got to meet up with Jack again and still know him to this day as my son is in a very successful business with his son. Two great guys who bring back great memories for me. There are no clothes shops like that anymore.

Yes it was. I remember it well. It was a classy shop. I had a friend (female) who worked there for a while. It was in my local precinct, but I used to go into Manchester to get my (female)outfits. Many of the great stores are no longer there, mores the pity. However I believe Studd Menswear is?
