Liston's Bar and Music Hall (Manchester)

It was on Swan Court and named after the famous all round entertainer Harry Liston from Stockport. His most well known song albeit many years ago was "When Johnny comes marching home"

I was 12 years old my mam worked as a barmaid I used to stack the shelves and take out the empties the landlord was Ted his wife was called Pat he used to play the organ which was actually built in it was renowned for prostitutes and gays I remember it well I was there for five years

I can recall my late husband telling me about Listons as, he informed me that a Woman named Mary ( Bar girl) and himself ran Listons until it closed to make way for the new Ardale Centre. I also believe that the pianist was his father, Henry Hardman.
