No listing for James Brown and the Famous Flames and yet I definitely saw him at the Oasis and I'm pretty sure I saw him twice. He did this thing at the end of his act where his manager would throw a gold cape over his shoulders and he was led off stage 'for his own good' (as he'd put so much into the act) but the band kept on playing and he would bravely struggle back for an encore. Also missing Ike and Tina Turner, Charlie and Inez Fox, P.J.-split your pants-Proby, the original Drifters, the Animals (House of the Rising Sun), Unit Four Plus Two (Concrete and Clay), Kathy Kirby, Screaming Lord Such, Them (Here Comes the Night, G-L-O-R-I-A), Freddie and the Dreamers, the Searchers, the Honeycombs, Dave Berry and I'm pretty sure I saw the Righteous Brothers there. I did visit the Wheel too as it just meant cutting through the Rising Sun to Brazenose Street but the stage there was smaller and I'm certain it was the Oasis for James Brown, the Wheel for Spencer Davis Group, etc. There are definitely a few more not represented.

Oh dear, can't delete but the above are the date for Bo Diddley who was amazing! Bo and the Duchess had fantastically shaped guitars and of course they had a totally unique sound.

Yes John, you`re right in your dates for Little Richard and Bo Diddley! I played bass for both acts (photos to prove it) with The Bo Weevils (Richard) and with drummer Dave (Curley Shirley) Ward ( Bo)  Those were the days, mate. What a brilliant club The Oasis was back in the day.

Wow, what an incredible experience and honour to have played with those legends. The music was amazing and as you were a part of that line-up I salute you! ? Nobody would believe just how brilliant that club was, week after week of top acts and everybody having a great time. We were so lucky to have been young in the 60’s!
